Just returned from a buying trip to Guatemala, with these authentic Maya textiles.

This post-1980 daily use huipil was woven on a backstrap loom. The traditional geometric designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading; they are almost entirely of cotton threads. It consists of a single wide panel. All of the lower edges are neatly finished. The stitching down the sides, under the arm-holes, which makes the huipil into a finished garment as used by the Maya women, is still present. This a very nicely-made and finely-woven example, moderately light in thickness. The traditional Nebaj collar design was added using machine embroidery.
Measurements: 23.5 inches wide and 22 inches shoulder to hem.  This is a complete garment as worn by the indigenous women
Condition: Very Good, lightly used, some very slight soil is possible, a few loose or pulled threads; this is a very clean and very finely-woven huipil.  Photos of both sides are shown.  There is a very slight light blue stain along the very extreme lower edge in a few small places.
