Ixchel Mayan Goddess Medicine/Fertility Stone Relief Panel With Stand #1482

Description

This is a beautiful black black carving of Ixchel, the Mayan Goddess of medicine and fertility.  She holds a large sacred gourd, symbolic of pregnancy and the womb from which "she poured the earth and the stars."  She is said to pour “her healing rains upon the land" and blessings upon the community.  She is shown wearing a headdress with a snake which has the meaning of the wisdom that rises thanks to the energy of the earth.
Back reads "Ixchel Goddess of Medecine." Size is 7 1/2" x 4", weight is 17 oz.  Comes with a wooden stand, 5 1/2" tall.
