Woman's huipil measuring 30 inches wide and 27 inches long.
This pre-2000 daily use huipil was woven on a backstrap loom. The traditional geometric and animal designs were added during the weaving process using the technique of supplemental-weft brocading; they are almost entirely of cotton threads. It consists of two panels, seamed down the center of the garment. All four of the lower edges are nicely selvage-finished . The stitching down the sides, under the arm-holes, which makes the huipil into a finished garment as used by the Maya women, has been removed to facilitate display. This a very nicely-made and finely-woven example.  It contains the same design elements and configuration which have been used in this Maya town for many years.
Measurements: 30 inches wide and 27 inches shoulder to hem.
Condition: Very Good, lightly used, some very slight soil is possible, a few loose or pulled threads; this is a very clean and very finely-woven huipil.
