    Description

ITEM: vintage Protest Folk music Fanzine / magazine .
    TITLE : BROADSIDE #38 '
    VINTAGE : dated January 20, 1964
FANZINE totals 24 pages ( 12 sheets of paper, side stapled ). 15 pages of printed contents as some of the mimeo pages have their contents printed " single-side ".
BOB DYLAN Contents in this Issue : SIX page Stream-Of-Consciousness Letter / Article by Bob Dylan. A 23 ( Twenty Three ) year old Bob Dylan talks about being " Famous ", being asked for his Autograph, problems writing his book ( I assume " Tarantula " ) , etc. Absolutely fascinating Words. If you have ever been into Dylan / Vintage, Rare words I do NOT think that you can find anywhere else.
OTHER CONTENTS : Music/Lyrics by Malvina Reynolds ( " What Have They Done To The Rain? "), Len Chandler (" The Time Of The Tiger"), PHIL OCHS ("I'll Be There"), TOM PAXTON ("A Rumbling In The Land")
WHAT IT IS : mimeographed fanzine for the Folk Community. January 20, 1964. Published by SIS CUNNINGHAM ( look her up on Wiki ). Printed on her mimeograph machine on her kitchen table and collated / side-stapled back in 1964. A Print Run of Maybe ( at most ) 400 and mailed to the " devoted " Folkies back in 1964. A Labor of Love.
    - This was the SOCIAL PLATFORM for folkies back in 1964. Musical artists would send their " first draft " or finished music/lyrics of Songs in for review / appraisal by their contemporaries / fans; letters-of-Comment on the " scene " , etc. and early Days of the Movement.
SCARCITY : I did mimeo zines myself in the 1970s ( non-music theme ). I know the Mechanics. Original Print Run of this publication was no more than 500. Probably, more like 200 to 300 copies. How many still Exist? Perhaps ( at most ) 25 or 30 copies of this are still extant.
EDITOR : Sis Cunningham ; Contributing Editors : Phil Ochs, Gil Turner, Josh Dunson , Bob Dylan. ADVISORY : Pete Seeger .
CONDITION : Complete. Unmarked. Very Good / EXCELLENT.
