    Description

Unique pieces made with natural fibers by Warao artisans. The Warao – water people- are an ancient indigenous people living in the Orinoco River Delta, Venezuela. They are discreet, friendly, and touchingly simple people.
MEASURES: The taller one stands approx.
    2.5 inches (6.5 cm)
tall x 2 inches (5 cm) diameter at the widest point and the smallest stands 2 inches (5 cm) x 2.25 inches (6 cm) diameter at the widest point
The straps drop 5.25 inches (13.5 cm) each.
The baskets are a beautiful decorative piece.
Processing of fibers is a hard work. The leaves are cut from the Moriche palm tree, dried for several weeks, crushed into fine fibers, boiled and dried in the sun. The fibers are then twisted into very fine threads and wrap around a coil of a palm branch. This technique offers the strongest and tightest weaves.
