COLLECTIBLE IKE VARIETIES - FACTS, PHOTOS and THEORIESBY THE IKE GROUP, Lead Author ROB EZERMAN
FIRST REVISED EDITION
This big, new, and somewhat radical book on Ike Varieties has already received favorable press (see below). It is a very personal book for me (I am the lead author) to which I've devoted the better part of 5 years (as have the other authors, all members of the IKE GROUP).
The most glowing feedback I've received is from collectors not previously very interested in Ikes who found the book's humor entertaining.
Here's what I wrote for the LULU listing page:
PAPERBACK, Revised First Edition. Same core content as the First Edition but with many minor corrections. The First Section presents our top 21 Collectible Ike Varieties (our DIVA's). The Second Section has the core of the Ike Group's research: highlights include a photo copy of Herb Hick's amazing 1974 article on the three 71-72 reverses known at that time; a photo copy of Del Romine's only published article on Die States; a pithy essay by Sam Petry whom many of you will recognize from the PCGS US Coin Forum; a sharp essay by Andy on minting metallurgy; photo copies of two sets of amazing US Mint Ike hub and die records unearthed by Roger Burdette; and several chapters that gently explore some interesting technical issues. A big book (8X11, 501 pages), a valuable resource for modern coin collectors and essential for Ike collectors interested in the why's and how's of the turbulent first few years of the Series.
Here's what John Roberts wrote about my book:
"FIVE STARS" " The advanced collector of Eisenhower Dollars will find a treasure trove of information within. This exhaustive work not only focuses on variety types, it offers insights into the 'how' and 'why' behind each coin. Most importantly, it is essential for an understanding of the future direction of this field."
And here's what
Reviewer Jeffrey P. LaPlante wrote
in The E-Sylum v14#46 November 6, 2011 (I pulled the more favorable quotes from a much longer review):
“If you are really into error collecting and die varieties then you will want to get your hands on
Collectible Ike Varieties Facts-Photos-Theories. .
.
If
you want to find out more information on metallurgy, tool and die making, and the whole minting process you will find a wealth of information in the Big book.”
“Chapter 25 is especially helpful for theories concerning annealing, planchet metallurgy, die hardening, and steel alloy composition. This is by far the most in depth discussion I have ever read on the subject” without attending formal training.”
“The amount of work that has gone into this volume over the years is simply amazing.”
“In Chapter 32 there is a review of the incomparable Del Romines theory on determining die states. There are many other chapters which required the painstaking research of United States Mint records, with discussions of behind the scenes decisions, and work processes.”

If you would like a personally autographed copy, please simply add to your payment to cover the additional cost of shipping the book to me and then to you: otherwise you will receive the book directly from the publisher.
PLEASE NOTE:
this book is published when an order is placed and therefore you will receive the book in 1-2 weeks. Lulu uses different shipping methods depending on address. Add an additional week if you want an autographed copy.
I've also created a "SPECIAL EDITION" hardback version which has an additional 100 pages devoted to some additional research and "food for thought" topics as well as 50 pages on the origin of the 1964 Accented Hair Kennedy Proof with some key resource documents found nowhere else, thanks be to Herb. It is not listed on Ebay for plus shipping.
