Syracuse lawmakers delay vote on $825K settlement in fatal shooting by police officer

Syracuse, N.Y. — The Syracuse Common Council failed to vote Monday on the proposed $825,000 settlement of a lawsuit filed by family of a man shot and killed by a Syracuse police officer in 2016.
The council withdrew a resolution authorizing the settlement after a related vote to borrow funds for the payment fell a vote short of the two-thirds majority required for a bonding ordinance.
